Has it been a week? Losing track like a prisoner would.
Governor Newsom scolds us for taking to the parks and the beaches. “Grow up,” he says.
Apparently we aren’t the only ones on the beaches. England has just issued a national lockdown. They were crowding the beaches, too. I can’t blame them. I lived there. A sunny day and warm weather is not easy to come by this time of year.
I give the homeless guy (he’s a new one) on the corner of Grant and Redwood a $5 bill. Homeless people are not of the highest priority for anyone at the moment. The community “shelter in place” laws have excluded them from the limitations they have imposed on the rest of us. They can be out and about, consort with each other. Who cares? We’re short on toilet paper, drinking water, our restaurants are closed and we can’t see our friends. Except at a social distance. It’s dire, I tell you. The homeless... they are free to do what they want. What lucky bastards.
The Trader Joe’s limits the number of people who can be in the store at the same time. So we can keep our social distance inside, In the line to get in, we stand 6 feet apart. The lady in front of me gets a little close to the older lady in front of her and is told to get back. She does and goes back in her phone. 5 minutes later, the older lady gets in the lady’s personal space, the same one she has just told to get back, to mind her cart because while she retrieves her purse from her car. The old lady get’s yelled at this time. “Six feet, please!” Justice or mutual meanness? You decide.,
