LAS VEGAS, NV (Autodesk University 2014) - This is not the first time SmartUse has attracted the attention of TenLinks judges (see previous nomination at AU2013), but the large 55” model screen navigating through a PDF design set is impressive enough to be deserve a 2nd nomination. I was shown a demo on how to collaborate with a design set from virtually anywhere. I believe the real power behind this is the tablet in the field, marking up design packages and sending them back to the office. You will be able to accelerate workflow and become paperless in the process. It was hard not to stop by and take a look at this product and find out more about it.
The SmartUse houses a CPU with 8GB RMA and a 64GB SSD. It’s really a giant Windows tablet . However, the software supports PDFs (no CAD native formats). SmartUse software is also available to run on small portable devices (like iPads and Windows tablets).

Sam, we are thrilled that you recognize the potential of the SmartUse app to mark up design packages, return them to the office, accelerate workflow and take paper out of the process. And just to reiterate, SmartUse is not an expensive piece of hardware, but a *mobile app* - a simple bit of software that anyone can use with ease. It's different from other plan viewing apps in a few ways, one of the most powerful being that it works on many different platforms: the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system used on so many computers, the Apple iOS operating system that runs iPad tablets, and the Windows 8 OS, which works on portable tablets (such as the Microsoft Surface and Lenova Yoga) AND big touch screens like that you show above. We feel that its versatility is what makes it such a good collaboration tool: It accommodates most of the platforms that a project team will use. Again, thanks for the shout-out!
