Carol Bartz, the ex-CEO of Autodesk reported to have made over $230 million from stock options (see WorldCAD Access post), has apparently found an outlet for some of that money. In an article in Contra Costa Times (a San Francisco bay area newspaper) Bartz has added to her real estate holdings in Hawaii, buying additional property there for $8 million. She had already purchased property in Hawaii for $6.2 million in 2005.
Interviewed recently in More magazine (for women over 40), Bartz professes her love of gardening, presumably an activity she will have more time for now that she is in a reduced role at Autodesk. She is photographed in her Atherton estate. Atherton, a residence-only community south of San Francisco, is arguably the most exclusive address in the bay area. However, it is quite far from Autodesk headquarters in Marin county, 75 miles to the north. According to the article, Bartz had to train herself to read during the 2 hour limo ride, enduring frequent bouts of nausea. Her driver had to pull over to let Bartz vomit out the window.
The article is not online yet, but when it is, I'm sure it will be TenLinks Daily.
Carol retired in Hawai soon? No way! She will be part of the next government lead by our next President: C. Rice.

She deserve a leaisure life now. All her last 10 years she dedicated to Autodesk growth intern investors wealth. Hawai is the right place for her to rest her self. Since she is garden lover hope it should help her keeping in good health.

I think I would be purchasing land in Hawaii if I were in her position as well. By the way, anyone know how to get into a position to be able to buy land in Hawaii? I am open to any idea that will make me 230 mill. in a year.
