LAS VEGAS (Trimble Dimensions 2014) - Trimble Field Points is a combination of software and hardware that you can use to help layout anything from the model or drawing in the field. More importantly you can then use it to field check items in the field to make sure that they are in the correct location.
Field Points has a plug-in for AutoCAD and Revit that allows you to place points on the drawing then export those points to the tablet you take to the field. The robotic total station will then guide you with a laser to the correct place on the site place to mark for you layout. You can then go back at gather critical points in the field like an anchor bolt or even the planet of a beam. Once you have the points gathered you can take these points back to AutoCAD or Revit and verify that they are in the right place. This method of taking data to the field and bring it back is part what Trimble calls the “Constructible Model.”
Now with Version 2 of the product you can load models up to approximatesly 150 MB in size, which is a big improvement over the previous version. If you have a subscription for your software you should make sure you are on the latest version.
